1.3a Baslow Charities brief. This shorter article folllows the story of the Charites from their inception in the 1600s through to the 21st century

1.3b Baslow Charities full. This is a longer version of the same with much more detail about the investments. Initially land provided rent for payments to The Curate, The poor of Baslow and the (endowed or charity) School. In due course the lands were sold and the money invested in Consuls – whose value was decimated by inflation. Now they are in shares in the Charities Official Investment Fund. Payment are carefullt clculated to reflect the original donations.

1.3c Baslow Charites Scheme. The school closed in 1889. This is a copy of the 1898 “Scheme” provided by the Charity Commissioons which which decided how the charities are run. It istill applies today

1.3d Baslow Charities – The Boards in Church There are three boards or large plaques in the church giving details of donations given by parishioners. The two original ones, erected in 1720 and costing 2/6d, list donations given before this date. They are in the north west corner and will need a good torch to view them properly Most historical facts need research to reveal them: here is proof on show to all.
