2.1d Baslow in 1760 The year saw momentous changes in the villag., The turnpike arrived. There was a new lead smelter. The coal mine was being enhanced. Enclosure of fields was under way.
2.1e Bridge End 1827 A major development at Bridge End in 1827. Houses and a large farm were demolished (and new accodation built elsewhere). The churchyard was enlarged, roads widened and pavements installed. Little has changed since.
2.1f Enclosure Award ver 2011 The Baslow Enclosure Award was a sham. No enclosures were made. However the Duke of Rutland converted Common Land – moorland – into his private grouse moor and the Duke of Devonshire acquired a large extension to his park as well as his own grouse moor. 2.1i The Marsdens in Baslow Hugo Marsden arrived in Baslow in 1596 to marry Alicia Brough. His family prospered over the next two centuries before dwindling away by 1900. There are notes on Parkgate Farm and another farm, Oxclose, in Chatsworth Park which no longer exists
